An Important Note on Weight Loss
/
Dr. Peng wants you to understand that abdominoplasty, like liposuction, is an enhancement procedure and is not intended as a weight loss tool. Patients should be near their goal weight and committed to living a healthy lifestyle. She will perform an in-depth evaluation to determine if a tummy tuck is the right solution for you.

Financing Your Tummy Tuck Surgery
What Factors Affect the Cost of Treatment?
The most important factors are the extent of your treatment and the experience of your plastic surgeon. Choosing a board-certified surgeon like Dr. Peng can help you experience the best returns on your investment.
Do You Offer Flexible Financing Options?
Our practice, serving Minnetonka and Minneapolis, MN, works with CareCredit®. This third-party financing option allows you to pay for treatment in affordable, low-interest monthly installments.
Does Insurance Cover Abdominoplasty?
Unfortunately, insurance will not cover a full tummy tuck that is performed for cosmetic reasons. To better understand what insurance may cover, it is important to understand that a tummy tuck is really a combination of three separate procedures.
The surgery starts with skin removal, then is followed by abdominal muscle repair, and concludes with the precise repositioning of the belly button. While rare, insurance may cover the skin removal if you are suffering from medical problems like rashes or odors caused by the excess skin. However, in no case will the muscle repair and belly button repositioning be covered.
As our practice has been established for approximately a decade, our skilled staff has vast experience working with all types of insurers that Minneapolis patients have. If possible, we will help you secure insurance coverage.
The Tummy Tuck Timeline
The length of surgery varies from patient to patient, but Dr. Peng will make sure you know what to expect before your procedure.
Allow Dr. Peng
to Evaluate Your Candidacy
Far too often, Minneapolis patients who are suffering from body-based confidence issues will self-disqualify from plastic surgeries that will boost their self-esteem. Instead of determining candidacy on your own, reach out to Dr. Peng for a thorough tummy tuck candidacy consultation. Call (763) 999-4170 to get started.
Frequently Asked Questions About Tummy Tuck Surgery
Below are some of the most frequently asked questions Minneapolis-area patients ask during consultations at our Minnetonka, MN, office. As a plastic surgery provider who prides herself on compassion, Dr. Peng is here to address all your concerns.
When can I have sex?
This question is totally common and nothing to be embarrassed about. Typically, Dr. Peng recommends a tummy tuck patient wait six weeks before resuming sex. This waiting period is recommended because it avoids unnecessary extension and stretching of your abdominal muscles during recovery.
Can I have a baby after surgery?
You can have a baby after a tummy tuck, however, this is not advised. The pregnancy will stretch out your skin, re-expand your repaired abdominal muscles, and widen your scar. It is best to ensure you are done with childbearing before you receive this surgery.
Is a tummy tuck dangerous?
Every surgery carries some level of risk. Thankfully, a tummy tuck is considered a low-risk procedure especially when it is carried out by a board-certified surgeon like our Minnetonka-based Dr. Peng.

Dr. Peng Can Perform a Mini Tummy Tuck
Some patients don't require a full tummy tuck to achieve their desired goals. If you are solely concerned with mild to moderate amounts of excess fat and skin in your abdomen below the navel, Dr. Peng may be able to address all your cosmetic concerns with a mini tummy tuck, which is a more targeted and less invasive option than the traditional surgery.
She can also augment the results of your full or mini tummy tuck with a variety of other procedures. Liposuction of the flanks, hips, or outer thighs is commonly combined with a tummy tuck, as is an arm lift and various breast procedures.
